I have been unemployed for one month. I guess I shouldn't say "unemployed". I'm more "pending employment" because I can't start my new job until my background investigation is complete which apparently can take about 2-4 months.
In the past month of unemployment/pending employment I have:
*Moved across country
*Unpacked and organized over 90% of our apartment
*Shopped at five different Target stores
*Been to Target about six or seven times
*Visited three museums (American History, Native American, and Hirshhorn Art)
*Took Sophie to the dog park twice
*Shopped at three different grocery stores (Giant, Safeway, and Trader Joe's)
*Went to AOII Founder's Day brunch
*Went to AOII SMAC Elections Meeting
*Got a safety inspection and emissions check for my car
*Titled and registered my car in Virginia
*Got my Virginia driver's license
*Filled out my background investigation paperwork, got fingerprinted, and took a drug test
*Paid my City of Alexandria motor vehicle tax and got my locality sticker
*Cooked dinner (crab cakes, pasta with pesto sauce, chicken tacos, and stuffed chicken breasts)
*Baked a cake
*Worked out six mornings a week
*Booked a trip to Chicago for the beginning of April
*Filed our federal income taxes
I think that are all the highlights of my past month. It's not a bad list. Sure I have spent a couple of days where I have pretty much just laid on the couch and watched lots of bad TV, but I really have limited those. I will say that I will be glad when I can finally start working.
