Officially on the East Coast

After six days (five of them driving), one broken down car, some snow, and lots of cans of Pepsi, we arrived in Alexandria, Virginia, last Tuesday. We made it to our new apartment complex 15 minutes before they closed and got the keys to our place. We spent three nights sleeping on the floor before borrowing an air mattress from friends. Our stuff arrives tomorrow which we are very excited about! It will be nice to make our new apartment "homey".

Since our stuff is arriving a few days after they quoted us it would, we decided toward the end of last week that we couldn't live without TV that long. We broke down and bought a 32" Samsung LCD TV that will eventually go in our bedroom. We had wanted to get a new TV in the spring/summer for our room, but pushed up that timeline.

Sophie is adjusting to her new surroundings well. It's been funny watching her play in the snow again. She loves it so much.

The other big news is that today I received a job offer for the budget analyst position I had three interviews for. After my background investigation is complete (so in 2-4 months), I will be an employee of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Department of Homeland Security. I wonder if I will see Janet (Napolitano) or anyone who left the AZ Governor's Office to go work for DHS. That would be cool. Now that I have a job offer, it will make unemployment more enjoyable, especially since I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

At least I will have time to train for a 5K and learn to cook...
